Registry

The Métis Nation – Saskatchewan has undertaken the responsibility for the development of a registry of Métis in Saskatchewan. Other provincial organizations of the Métis Nation across Canada have done the same. The Registry is the responsibility of the Métis Nation – Saskatchewan Senate as set out in the Métis Nation – Saskatchewan Constitution and the Citizenship and Senate Acts. Currently, however, there is no capacity to carry out the work of the Registry and what work is being done is being done through volunteer hours. The Executive are working hard to change this situation.

The Métis Nation – Saskatchewan Senate have appointed a Registrar who will oversee the development of a Métis Registry for Saskatchewan based upon the definition of Métis as provided in the Métis Nation – Saskatchewan Constitution. The registry will be undertaken within the timeframe set out in the Citizenship Act. A Citizenship Application Form has been developed and can be obtained by contacting the Métis Nation – Saskatchewan head office in Saskatoon.
