The Métis Homeland

The Métis Homeland extends from northwestern Ontario, westward across the prairie provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta and as far as northeastern British Columbia. It takes in parts of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut and swings south into the Northern United States. Although the borders on the map seem definite, they are not. The homeland of the Métis Nation is defined by community and traditional land use boundaries which do not reflect provincial and national borders.

The governing member organizations include from: East to West, the Métis Nation of Ontario, the Manitoba Métis Federation, the Métis Nation - Saskatchewan, the Métis Nation of Alberta, and the Métis Provincial Council of British Columbia.
