Métis Nation – Saskatchewan Laws

As part of the work of the Métis Nation Legislative Assembly, the President has led in the development of the laws of the Métis Nation – Saskatchewan. These laws are drafted for ratification by the elected leadership who sit on the Provincial Métis Council and the Métis Nation Legislative Assembly. Each of the Métis Local presidents and the Regional Directors are responsible for ensuring that their communities are aware of the proposed laws and have had an opportunity to make recommendations for consideration. Once ratified, the legislation becomes law and in the case of the Métis in Saskatchewan, the Laws of the Métis Nation – Saskatchewan. The Métis Laws are developed in such a way to respect the laws of Canada and Saskatchewan and to provide further direction to the Métis in the efforts of self-determination.
