![]() The Gabriel Dumont Institute of Métis Studies and Applied Research is the educational arm of the Métis Nation – Saskatchewan. The Institute is the only Métis owned educational institution of its kind in Canada. The Institute is responsible for the design, development and delivery of Métis programming at the post-secondary level. The Gabriel Dumont Institute is affiliated with both universities in Saskatchewan - the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina – and is federated with the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology. The Gabriel Dumont College offers programming through the Institute, such as the Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Programs located in the three urban centers of Prince Albert, Saskatoon and Regina. As part of the work of the Institute, the Dumont Technical Institute offers technical and vocational programs such as Adult Basic Education and skills training in various areas. As well the Institute has developed the Gabriel Dumont College, a three-year Arts program for Métis students attending on the University of Saskatchewan campus. The Institute has a curriculum development unit that has produced quality resources for teachers and the general public on Métis history, culture, language, music and dance.
